Felicia! HI, It is all personal preference. You most definitely can use the bar and rack if that is what you like. It is essentially the same, sometimes people who are new to lifting find the smith machine a little bit more stable while they are getting use to the movements and different machines.

You can do whatever cardio you want. On leg day I tend to run, but it is totally up to you. If you want to change things up rotate through running, the elliptical, and the stair climber, or do more intervals, such as jog/sprints or walk/jog/sprint.
Why use the Smith machine as opposed to a bar and rack? Trying to isolate one muscle group?

I don’t have the machine for hamstring kickbacks at my gym. What would I use/do that’s relatively similar?
Kira! you can do straight leg deadlifts, that will work your hammies good.

Can you advise on what we should do for cardio. I run on most days or skip in between but always am confused about what cardio to do on leg day.
