6 Week Summertime Slim Down was my latest workout program with daily workouts and videos showing how to do the exercises and explains the details of each day. Join in and get fit!
Hi Shannon, I’m not sure why it took me so long to find your website, but I’m so glad I did!!! I was in desperate need of a new routine and your 6 weeks program is the perfect solution. I missed the boat a bit, as far as getting in at the beginning of summer, but rather late than never, right!? I did the back routine today, enjoyed it very much. I had never used the cross pulley machine (for lats), so I had to get some help to figure out how to use it. Better to ask than looking like an idiot:(., turns out if was simple simon. Any who, thank you for all the information and I’ll touch base if I have any questions or comments.
Debbie! Thank you so much for joining in the 6 week program. “Better late than never” is absolutely right! 😉 I hope you enjoyed the workout and please let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to hear you asked someone for help, because a lot of people shy away from that, Nice Job!! Keep me posted and have fun. Shannon 🙂
There are alternatives, for hamstrings you can do straight leg deadlifts with either dumbbells, a barbell or kettle bell swings.. For a leg extension alternative you can do split squats, step ups, or split squats with one leg on the bench. Let me know if this helps and sorry I didn’t get back to you SOONER. Shannon 🙂
I found your site I believe through Pinterest the first time. I did day 21 today of the Summertime slim down I love your program and getting your instruction on each exercise. I am also staying faithful to the 45 mins of cardio every day thus far. Being half way through, today I had some challenges getting the days I need for this week. I am getting server issues and once got a log-in screen that said content was only for members. I have not had issues up to now in accessing your site. Is there something i need to do to join your site? I would like to continue on the 2nd half of the program as it has worked great for me and I am so appreciative of your site and wonderful videos you have done!
Im so excited to start this today. Im so glad a found a site like yours that actually motivates me to want to go an work out.. my goal is to loose 30 pounds =)
Hi Shannon, I just stumbled upon your site through pinterest very glad I did, my boyfriend and I workout together him trying to build muscle, and me trying to build muscle and lose weight body fat, up to now we have done P90x and we are doing body beast, I would really like to start your six week summertime program, but I am wondering do you have some type of meal plan to go along, or advice on timing your meals, I believe I’m eating the right foods but not at the right times. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Perla! Hi, so glad you found the website! P90X is a great workout. I think you will like the 6 week program and if you go to my blog and look on the homepage you will see a link for “week 4: 28 Days 2 Shred” if you click on that and scroll down about half way you will find a link to a meal plan and alternatives as far as proteins, veggies, carbs, fruits, etc. As far as the timing of what and when you eat, I try to get my first meal in right after I workout in the morning, but if you don’t workout in the morning start your day with a protein filled breakfast and then try to eat every 3-4 hours, so about 5-6meals a day. Drink lots of water and make sure to get plenty of sleep, it is very important for your bodies recovery.
do u have several meal plans to follow or is it just the one sample? also how come not all the workouts are printable?? i love ur prinatable wrkouts makes it way easier
Sorry, I am giving my site an overhaul to make it much easier to navigate through the workouts so I didn’t convert everything into printable workouts. I just have the one sample meal plan, but do custom meal plans. Sorry for the inconvience!
Is it okay to move the day of rest up a day or back a day? My schedule is crazy on Thursdays and Mondays I would have rest but that’s a day I have the most free time.
Hi, there seems to be a lot more arms and back workouts than leg. In recent programs I have done it seemed to be the other way. Do I have the right one for women or is this for men ?
This is for both Men and Women. You can certainly supplement another leg day into your week if you want to get more legs in. I didn’t really realize there are more arms and back, but I will look at it.
Hi Shannon, I am so glad I found your website. I know it is only January 1st but I am ready to get going on the six week summer slim down! I do have a gym membership but it does not have some of the machines you use. Is there a place I can find alternatives to some of the machines?
HI!! I don’t have a list of alternatives, but it you let me know what it is I would be more than happy to give you the alternatives, however you have given me a good idea to do that for people so they can do the workouts working the same muscle, but with something else. Please let me know if I can help you and I will be more than happy to send you alternatives.
Hi Shannon! I found your website via Pinterest while searching for healthy recipes. I am so happy I took the time to look at other things your site had to offer. Because I found your 6 weeks summertime slim down!! Some days were harder than others, but I’m happy to say that I finished the program last week. Through hard work, dedication, and results I have had several people ask where I get my exercise from. I proudly tell them Fitnessfooddiva…an awesome website that provides workouts with instructional videos and pictures. I cannot say Thank you enough for whipping me back into shape and look forward to your next program.
Hi! Super thrilled to find a new workout program that I feel will challenge and help me get back into the strength and build I once was. I’m getting my workout schedule set up to match my work schedule, I live far out of town and its easier to keep my workouts with the days I work, to make most of the trip. (Very rural community) Is there a strong reason for spreading out rest days, or can I tweak it slightly to have rest days back to back so I don’t have to make the 30 mile drive into town on an off day. What would you recommend?
Melissa! Hi, oh my goodness of course you can tweak the rest days to make them work for your schedule! Great dedication on your part. Please do back to back rest days if that is what works!
Day 2 and I can’t lift my arms, and I love it! I’ve never had upper body strength, but I can tell that’s all going to change! Thank you for this workout routine! You’re a rockstar!
Hi Shannon..I am so excited that I stumbled upon you and your awesome programs! I am starting 6 weeks summertime slim down in the morning and I am stoked!
Oliva, You complete all 4 sets and THEN move to the next exercise, but you can do one of each exercise and then repeat it 3 more times if you like that better. 🙂
I am trying to lose weight along with tone up a little bit. I have explored your blog and looked at your plans. Which one would be the best in terms of losing weight? I was thinking either this 6 week summer slim down or the 8 week body transformation.
HI, thank you for checking out the site, and I think the 8 Week would be awesome or even the 10 week plan, but if you are looking for something a little shorter the 6 week would be fabulous!
I’m looking forward to starting this program! One question–Do you do cardio too? I’ve looked through some of the workouts, not all of them, but I haven’t seen any cardio. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
Hi, happy to hear you are looking forward to starting the program. Yes, I do cardio everyday about 45 minutes, but you can do what works for you and your time.
Thank you for the helpful photos and videos for each of your workouts! I’ve worked out regularly for years, and it’s nice to have the challenge of mixing things up. It’s so easy to get complacent, and your plans are so helpful to shake things up! This is such a great site and an encouraging inspiration for anyone of any level trying to get fit. You rock!
I just wanted to comment on how refreshing it is to see a woman who is as fit as you yet who doesn’t also feel the need to flaunt her body. You should be proud of what you’ve achieved, and I appreciate that you dress in functionally appropriate gear. Your strength and dedication are what shine through instead of exploiting your body and making yourself an object as so many other women seemed to feel the pressure to do. Women need to be more comfortable with who they ARE rather than on what they look like/ how many people are looking at them. Thank you.
Thank you, I truly appreciate that. I have to say that I would love to do a post on being happy with who we are as a person and individual in our own skin and NOT comparing ourselves to how others look. Women have so many pressures placed upon them and they forget about how truly special they are inside and out. Thank you so much for sharing that!
Shannon, Love love love your programs but my life is chaotic right now.. is there an easy way to convert any of the programs to a home based program with free weights only?
You can do any of the workouts from home by using free weights. Most if not all the upper body workouts can be converted to using free weights and there is always different alternatives for legs when machines are used, but you don’t have access to them. Life is chaotic, I love that you have a good attitude and are willing to workout in your home!!
6 week summer slim down is an excellent work out Thank you so much!!! I am 48 years old and try to follow but I adapt to my schedule Mon/Tuesday work out and walk for 2 KM usually 15-18 mins (have bad knees) Wednesday I do yoga and walk for 30 mins Thurs/Friday work out and walk for 2 KM Sat/Sun rest my body has totally transformed Thanks!!! Ready for the beach I will finish my 6 week program next week and going on vacation after which program would you recommend next I have already told all my friends and they are now using your program
Can we get more ab workout in your programs This is my problem area after 3 kids i also need better view of machines to show how to use properly. Had to get some correction at the gym from Good Samaritans
I love that you took the program and made it work for you, that is so great to hear. Sounds like you are kicking some butt!!! The 5 weeks To Get Fit Challenge would be a good one to try, or the 8 week Body Transformation. I will definitely do some more ab workouts in the near future, and pay attention to filming to get a better shot of the equipment. Thank you for letting me know!! https://fitnessfooddiva.com/workouts/fitness-tips/5-weeks-to-get-fit-challenge-2/
I have always been told when building muscle decrease cardio. Looking at your workouts almost every exercise has cardio followed by lifting and we have active rest days. I’m pretty thin to begin with, however I could loose a little in my belly, under my arms and a tiny bit on my back. Do you really see and feel a difference doing cardio as much as you do? Thank u so much for ur workouts, I definitely feel the burn. ☺ï¸
Sorry I meant to say weights followed by cardio. Also, how am I benefiting from the ab workout at the end. You know the twisting? She sorry I’m new to the fitness world.
Everyone is different and have such different goals. I like to do cardio, but you don’t have to do as much as I do, 30 minutes along with lifting is great. Do what is comfortable with you. I am happy you are enjoying the workouts, feel free to customize them to suit your body type and needs.
Hi Shannon I absolutely love your site and currently I’m doing the 6 week summertime slim. Typically how long does it take you to do your weight workout? I been finding it takes me About 45 minutes, and then I barely have time for my cardio, I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong? Any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thank you again:)
You are not doing anything wrong, that is about how long it takes me to get through my lifting as well. If you need to cut back to fit in some cardio then I would recommend cutting back on the amount of sets you do and maybe trying to lift a little bit heavier to make up for loosing a set. This may help speed things along so you have some time for cardio. hope that makes sense!
Ok thank you so much for your suggestion, will do that:) I have 1 week summertime slim, which other of your programs do you recommend for toning and loosing weight? As well do you recommend to cut carbs while lifting and trying to loose weight?
Is the main difference between the 6 week summer slim down and the 8 week program strictly the length of time? Or is there a significant difference in the structure and organization of the workouts as well?
The difference is in the amount of weight used. So in the 8 week program you are working to failure, meaning you want a heavy enough wait that will cause the last few reps to be a struggle. Also the 8 week has pyramid sets with it, and you are hammering out a lot of reps throughout the program.
I have been doing this program ,I’m currently on day 10 I was just curious on what’s the average results after completing the full program? Weight loss in lbs or muscle gain ?
That is very hard to say, since we all start out at such different levels in terms of weight and meal planning. I would set a goal for yourself and work towards that. Some people have an easier time loosing weight than others, some people have different health issues that prevent them from having certain results over someone else, we are all so different genetically and physically, but what it all comes down to is how you feel and what you have accomplished!
Hi Shannon! I have thankfully found your page and am excited to get started on this plan! I had a baby 4 months ago, and now need to get in shape. I have a minimum of about 50 pounds to lose to get back to my pre baby body. i am wondering what the alternatives for pull ups are? I cannot do one to save my life! Thanks for your help.
Happy Mom-hood!! That is so fantastic. Pull ups are a tough exercise for sure, and I have no doubt you will conquer them, but for now you can do wide grip and close grip lat pulldowns, or if you have some way of doing “assisted” pull ups that will work too. One of these day you will be doing a pull up.. I just know it!!
Hi, Yes, you can gain all access to the workouts and join my team for $29.99/month. I hope you will consider and continue on your fitness journey with me.
I realize summer is a long ways away, but I’m a newbie, overweight, and this 6 week program seemed like a good place to start so here I am! Your homepage says that as a member I’ll have access to the meal plans as well but I can’t find where to download those without paying. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks! ????
Hey! I recently signed up for the monthly premium membership and it says that we can get the meal plan free with the code “getfit”…however, the code is coming back in error and saying it’s not working?

Hi, I’m on day 6 tomorrow, not a huge fan of the leg extension machine or the hamstring curl machine, is there an alternative? Thanks!
